BREEAM In-Use is a performance-based assessment method for existing buildings which contains two Parts: Asset Performance and Management Performance. Each Part is independently scored and assessed to measure what is most valuable for the Project Team. Ratings are scored against nine categories, which are based on the most critical factors that influence a building's environmental performance, to evaluate the environmental and management performance of a building (as shown on the right).
BREEAM In-Use standards provide a framework to enable property investors, owners, managers and occupiers to determine and drive sustainable improvements in the operational performance of their assets, leading to benchmarking, assurance and validation of operational asset data. Some specific benefits include:
• Reducing operating costs.
• Providing a route to compliance with environmental legislation such as ISO14001.
• Adding value to existing energy certification schemes, including EPCs and DECs.
Ultimately, the BREEAM In-Use standards enhance the value and marketability of property assets.
We are certified BREEAM In-Use Assessors and experienced in guiding design teams and clients to achieve certification.
